The main purpose of this post is not to tell others how to direct their affairs or to pronounce what actions are tolerable or intolerable. The purpose of this post is to show as clearly as possible what people believe. What one chooses to do with that information is up to them.
We want to be clear that discipline in the church is healthy, and at the same time acknowledge that there is abuse in the evangelical church where it misuses its authority, and where it mishandles Scripture to manipulate and do harm to Christ’s sheep.
On this episode of Theology Gals, Marissa Namirr joins Coleen in discussing abuse in the Church with Pastor Jeff Crippen, co-author of A Cry for Justice: How the Evil of Domestic Abuse Hides in Your Church.
If you or someone you know is being abused in any of the ways noted above, please get help. Never assume that a person alleging abuse is lying or manipulating. Act first and investigate later.
